Arc Raiders Shredder Gyro Explained: Recycling, Value, and Farming

Post by DreamingWillow »

The Shredder Gyro is a Rare recyclable item you get from destroyed Shredders in Arc Raiders. Most players first notice it when looting ARC zones after a fight with Shredder-type enemies. It is not something you craft directly or find lying around in containers. You only get it by scavenging the remains of a Shredder that has already been taken down.

In general, players treat the Shredder Gyro as a mid-value loot item. It is not extremely rare, but it is valuable enough that you usually want to pick it up unless your inventory is already full or you are prioritizing lighter items.

Where Does the Shredder Gyro Come From?

You can only find the Shredder Gyro in ARC areas, and only from destroyed Shredders. This means a few things in practice:

You either kill the Shredder yourself, or

You arrive after another player or group has already taken it down

Most players get Shredder Gyros from second situations. In active ARC zones, it is common to see Shredders already destroyed, especially after server events or peak hours. Checking wreckage is usually worth the time.

You do not get Shredder Gyros from crates, lockers, or random world spawns. If there is no Shredder wreck, there is no Gyro.

How Rare Is the Shredder Gyro Really?

As of patch 1.7.0, the Shredder Gyro is classified as Rare, upgraded from Uncommon. In practical terms, this means:

You will not see one every raid

But most regular ARC players will collect several over time

Usually, players who actively hunt or scavenge Shredders will see these fairly often. If you avoid ARC zones, you might almost never see them.

The rarity change mainly affects crafting balance and loot value, not how players use the item day to day.

Inventory Details: Weight, Stack Size, and Value

Understanding how the Shredder Gyro fits into your inventory helps you decide whether to carry it out.

Weight: 1.0

Stack Size: 3

Sell Price: 3,000 credits

The weight is reasonable for a rare item. Most players are comfortable carrying one or two, especially early or mid-raid. Because it stacks up to three, it is space-efficient if you find multiple in one run.

Selling it directly gives a decent payout, but in general, experienced players think more about recycling value than raw credits.

Should You Recycle or Salvage the Shredder Gyro?

This is the question most players ask once they start collecting these.

Recycling Results

When recycled, one Shredder Gyro gives:

3× Mechanical Components

3× ARC Alloy

These materials are widely used in crafting and upgrades. ARC Alloy, in particular, is something many players run short on once they reach mid-tier crafting.

Salvaging Results

When salvaged, one Shredder Gyro gives:

2× Mechanical Components

You do not get ARC Alloy from salvaging.

What Do Most Players Choose?

In general, recycling is the better option unless you specifically need Mechanical Components and nothing else. Losing ARC Alloy is usually not worth the trade.

Most players recycle Shredder Gyros as soon as they return to base, unless they are temporarily short on storage or credits.

When Is It Better to Sell the Shredder Gyro?

Selling for 3,000 credits can make sense in a few cases:

Early game, when credits are more important than crafting

When your storage is full

If you already have a surplus of ARC Alloy and Mechanical Components

However, in most situations, players prefer to recycle rather than sell. Credits are easier to earn through missions and loot runs, while crafting materials tend to bottleneck progress later.

Some players also sell items like this when they plan to sell blueprints ARC Raiders style later, and want quick currency for upgrades before committing to long crafting chains.

How Players Usually Farm Shredder Gyros

There is no guaranteed farming route, but common behavior includes:

Visiting ARC zones shortly after server resets

Checking known Shredder patrol paths

Following combat sounds to find recent fights

Scavenging instead of engaging, especially solo

Most solo players avoid fighting Shredders directly unless they are well-equipped. Group players are more likely to hunt them intentionally.

If your goal is just the Gyro, scavenging wrecks is usually safer and more efficient than fighting.

Risk vs Reward: Is It Worth Carrying Out?

Because the Shredder Gyro has moderate value and reasonable weight, most players consider it worth extracting with. That said, it is not worth dying over.

In practice:

If you already have high-value loot, you might drop it

If extraction is risky, you may recycle later rather than push deeper

If you find one early, it usually stays in your inventory

The item sits in a comfortable middle ground between “must-keep” and “replaceable.”

Patch History and What It Means for Players

Patch 1.2.0: Item added to the game

Patch 1.7.0: Rarity changed from Uncommon to Rare

The rarity change mostly affected loot tables and perception. Player behavior did not change much. Most people already treated it as a valuable crafting item before the patch.

No major balance changes have affected how the Shredder Gyro works mechanically.

Final Thoughts: How the Shredder Gyro Fits Into Progression

The Shredder Gyro is a practical, no-nonsense item. It supports crafting progression without being overpowered or frustrating to obtain.

Most players:

Pick it up when they see it

Recycle it for ARC Alloy

Do not actively farm it unless they need materials

If you understand when to recycle, when to sell, and when to leave it behind, the Shredder Gyro becomes a useful part of your normal Arc Raiders routine rather than something you overthink.
